Stewart Elroy Mattson, 95, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Nov. 6, 2015, at Angel’s Care Center in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.

Stewie was a 38-year employee of the Hormel Company, a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, a 70-year member of the Masonic Fraternity and a member of the Austin Country Club for as long as he could swing a golf club.

He was an avid gardener, photographer, outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. His skill and craftsmanship as a carpenter and furniture-maker was widely appreciated by his family and friends who benefitted from his projects, gifts and generosity. He was ever a willing and helping hand to all who asked and more who didn’t have to. We will miss him greatly.

His memory and spirit live on in his wife Shirley Mattson; sister Jeannette Buchanan (Jack Buchanan); daughter Sandra Scheib Ostwinkle (Dennis Ostwinkle) and family; and son James Mattson (Stacy Mattson) and family.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Roy and Gertrude Mattson; brothers Loren, Kermit and La Verne Mattson; and granddaughter Andrea Scheib.
