Two people were arrested Monday after breaking into a home.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Second Street Southeast at about 9:45 a.m. Monday to a report of a possible burglary in progress, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. A witness called police when they saw a man entering the residence with something other than a key. A woman was with him.
The 27-year-old woman answered the door when police knocked and gave police a false name, according to the report. Officers saw the 36-year-old man carrying a box filled with food, and the two claimed they were helping someone move.
Further investigation found the two were not supposed to be in the residence. The Austin woman had outstanding warrants in Olmsted County, and she faces possible charges of second-degree burglary, criminal damage to property, theft, possession of stolen property and giving officers a false name. The Rochester man faces possible charges of giving officers a false name and burglary.
