Best Bets: Weekend filled with music, teddy bears

Get out this weekend and enjoy some art, music and hockey with friends and family. With tons of fun at the ArtWorks center, some great music at the Paramount Theatre and a teddy bear toss with the Austin Bruins, there is something to fit everyone’s vibe this weekend.
1. Uncork & Create
5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Austin ArtWorks Center,
Join friends and neighbors at the Austin ArtWorks Center to socialize, sip wine, and take home a masterpiece at the end of class. Cost is $40. For more information, call 507-434-0934.
2. Beginner’s Wheel: Bowls
5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Austin ArtWorks Center
Never rely on store-boughten pottery again. Come learn to create bowls at this beginner’s class. Cost is $60. For more information, call 507-434-0934.
3. Christmas Open House
2-4 p.m. Friday, Mower County Senior Center
The public is invited to the Mower County Senior Center for Christmas treats and lots of Christmas spirit. Appetizers and hot drinks will be served. Evie’s Travel, Stitching Bees and Wood Carvers will display their work and answer questions for anyone interested in joining their groups. For more information, call 507-433-2370.
4. Teddy Bear Toss, Austin Bruins
7:05 p.m. Friday, Riverside Arena
Come toss a teddybear at the game Friday where the Bruins play the Wilderness. All stuffed animals will be donated to the Austin Salvation Army. Tickets are on sale at Hy-Vee, Jim’s MarketPlace Foods, Games People Play and the Holiday Inn. More information can be found at AustinBruins.com.
5. Christmas at Home
7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Paramount Theatre
This concert presented by the Austin Public Schools Music Departments is $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $5 for students. “Christmas at Home” is being presented by members of the Austin Public Schools Music Department to raise funds for music, instruments and supplies. This is a one-of-a-kind variety show featuring music faculty, current students, alumni and friends. Tickets can be purchased online at www.austinareaarts.org and at the Austin Artworks Center in downtown Austin.
6. Alice in Wonderland
5-6 p.m. Sunday, Austin High School Knowlton
Come join Bridget’s Dance Conservatory as the dancers present “Alice in Wonderland.” Tickets will be available at the door and cost $10.
