David Robert Plantikow, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at his home from a massive heart attack.
Dave was born Jan. 12, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, to Robert and Jeannette Plantikow. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Episcopal Church of which he was a lifetime member. He graduated from Austin High School and Austin Junior College. Dave married Charlotte Leidall on May 25, 1963, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota. To this union, one son, Timothy David, was born. Dave served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He was employed at First National Bank and worked at Hormel in accounting for 40 years. One of his favorite things to do was work in the yard. Dave and Char enjoyed many fun trips with dear friends and also many winter vacations to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; brother-in-law Dave; two aunts and two uncles; cousin Susan Mossey.
Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Char Plantikow, Austin, Minnesota; son, Tim Plantikow, Austin, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Kermit Leidall, Austin, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Delores (Ken) Clifford, Hewitt, Texas, Dorothy (John) Wooldridge, Rochester, Minnesota, and Sue (Dave) Tucker, Austin, Minnesota; three cousins: Mary (Tarry) Hall, Onalaska, Wisconsin, Sue (Dave) Haberle, Plymouth, Minnesota, and Karen (Kirk) Duholm, Eagan, Minnesota; aunt Mildred Plantikow, Plymouth, Minnesota.
Dave loved his family and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Catherine Lemons officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials may be designated to Christ Episcopal Church. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
