Hockey: Packer boys fall to Wingers in OT

The Austin boys hockey team put up a good fight, but it lost to Red Wing 5-4 in overtime in Riverside Arena Thursday.
Freshman Hunter Guyette scored his first career goal for the Packers (0-4-1 overall, 0-3 Big Nine) to tie the game at 4-4 with two minutes left in regulation, but the Wingers (4-3 overall, 4-1 Big Nine) won the game with a breakaway goal 3:35 into the OT period.
“Overall, I thought it was a good back and forth game. They just caught a break at the end there,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “Our neutral zone was a lot better tonight and we were creating even more shots.”
Daniel Bollingberg scored a pair of short handed goals for Austin, Brayden Merritt had a goal and Isaac Arnold and Kory Potach each had two assists.
Austin had 38 shots on goal and the Noah Bawek stopped 28 shots for Austin. The Wingers scored four of their goals with their first line.
