Post-Christmas travel could get messy Saturday

Santa Claus is coming to town, and it looks like some snow is too.
After the area received some snow Wednesday to make Christmas a little whiter, The National Weather Service is calling for 2 to 5 inches of snow Friday night and early Saturday with the slight potential for areas to see up to 8 inches. The heaviest snow is expected from midnight to noon Saturday.
However, www.weather.com is calling for a wintry mix.
The recent snow comes amid a rush of people coming and going for the holiday weekend. Insurance and travel assistance company AAA said nearly one in three Americans is expected to take a holiday trip of at least 50 miles, with more than 90 percent of those driving.
Travelers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport reported long lines on Thursday and Friday, and the airport asked people to arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international trips.
The Austin area could see a bit more snow today, but the snow from today and Wednesday could melt on Christmas when highs reach around 34 degrees.
A high of 33 is expected Saturday before temperatures dip to a high of 19 on Sunday.
Looking ahead, snow is again possible on Monday and Tuesday before 2015 ends on a colder note. After highs in the low to mid-20s on Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will dip to highs in the teens and lows in the single digits for the end of next week.
