The art of keeping your resolutions

A New Year’s resolution is when a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice, such as opening doors for people beginning from New Year’s Day.

We don’t all make resolutions but a lot of us do. What matters is if we keep it or in fact how long we keep it. Each January, roughly one in three Americans resolve to better themselves in some way. A much smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions. While about 75 percent of people stick to their goals for at least a week, less than half (46 percent) are still on target six months later.

According to the Pittsburg Expert, this year’s top ten resolutions are:

4. Quit smoking

5. Enjoy life more

6. Quit drinking

7. Get out of debt

8. Learn something new

9. Help others

10. Get organized

We hope that you make the Mower County Senior Center part of your New Year’s resolution. There are many things on the top 10 list we can help you with. There is always something happening at the center.

We look forward to seeing you at our many programs at the Senior Center. Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having chicken broccoli casserole for only $2. You are always welcome at the center.
