David John Rockers of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Jan. 17, 2016, at home.

David was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Austin, Minnesota, to Harold and Dolores (Gahagan) Rockers. On Feb. 15, 1958, David married Elaine (Moe) Rockers in Austin.

In 1956, David graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School. He retired from Hormel in Austin in 1999. David retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Army reserves. He was also active in the National Guard.

David loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play in many sporting events. He enjoyed playing his scratch tickets, telling many stories about “back in the day” and watching the Minnesota Twins.

David is survived by wife Elaine; children: David Jr. Rockers, Rogers, Arkansas, Susan (Jack) Wittkopp, Austin, Kathy Rockers, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Mary (Chris) Callahan, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Anna (Erik) Figenskau, Rogers, Arkansas, Jeff (Cindy) Rockers, Austin, Kristina (Tom) Spaniol, Apple Valley, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Dolore Rockers, St. Paul, Minnesota, Jim and Patty Rockers, Stewartville, Minnesota, Gerry Rockers, McHenry Illinois, Tom Rockers, Evergreen, Colorado, Rosy (Rockers) and Pat Byron, Winona, Minnesota, Gina (Rockers) and Tim Johnson, LaCross, Wiscosin, Pete and Sue Rockers, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Therese (Rockers) and Rod Soukup.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dolores Rockers.

Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will take place Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at 4 p.m. and there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service. A service will take place Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Angels Church, Austin, Minnesota, officiated by Father Ken Pierre. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to family.
