Harold E. Sanvick, 92

Harold E. Sanvick passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield, Minnesota.
Harold was born Aug. 6, 1923, at home in Oslo, Minnesota, to Palmer and Gena (Haukaas) Sanvick. He graduated from Hayfield High School. He was a farmer, a milk-hauler, school bus driver and was employed for 31 years at Hormel.
He married Bernice “Irene” Moen of Kasson, Minnesota, on Sept. 21, 1944. To this union, four children were born.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the Eagles for many years.
Harold was a very gentle, kind man. He loved to listen to “old time music,” go to auctions, and visit with people. He also loved the Christmas season. He loved his family – the happiest times for him, was spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Lloyd; and son-in-law Keith Heichel.
Harold is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernice “Irene” Sanvick of Hayfield, Minnesota; daughter Elta (Tom) Knudsen, St. Ansgar, Iowa; sons: Arlo (Vicki) Sanvick, Taylors Falls, Minnesota, Bradley (Judy) Sanvick, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Marlin (Kathy) Sanvick, Elk River, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Adeline Sanvick, Hayfield, Minnesota; three nephews; three nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Austin, Minnesota, with the Rev. Karen Behling officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers memorials to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church general fund.
