A man threatened his sisters with a knife late Monday night.

Officers responded to the 3600 Block of First Avenue Southwest around 10:15 p.m. Monday to a report of an assault, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger. A 39-year-old man was taken into custody after getting into a verbal altercation with his sisters. At one point, the man got so upset he reportedly went to his room and got a pocket knife, which he threatened his 37-year-old sister with, holding it about two feet from her face.

The man was taken to the Mower County Jail and held for possible charges of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon. The fight was over family issues. The report was sent to the County Attorney’s Office for review.
