The Austin wrestling team lost a pair of close duals at the Rochester Mayo triangular Thursday.

The Packers lost to Northfield 36-35 and they lost to Mayo 39-35.

Austin’s 138-pound sophomore Aiden Wilson went 2-0 to pick up his 75th win and senior 285-pounder Elijah Kaercher went 2-0 to go over 50 wins in his career.

“It was a big night for Aiden and Eli, who are a couple of our leaders,” Austin head coach Jer Osgood said.

Phillip Zynda went 2-0 with two pins for the Packers at 160 pounds.

“Phillip did a nice job of staying on his feet and picking up some points for us. He is continually improving throughout the season and gaining more confidence with every match he wrestles.” Osgood said. “We just have to keep improving at pushing the pace for the whole six minutes and always look for opportunities to score.”

Austin’s Tad Belden and Caleb Tapp both beat wrestlers they had lost to earlier in the season.
