Friday marked the 43rd anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision on abortion, and local churches are joining churches across the country by hosting Life Sunday services this weekend.
St. John’s Lutheran Church will celebrate Life Sunday during a 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at 1200 13th Ave. NW, and church leaders say service will center on a message that affirms the worth of every member of the human family.
Church leaders say that the 1973 Supreme Court decision has resulted in the more than 600,000 abortions in Minnesota and about 58 million nationwide and that abortion is still the leading cause of human death among Americans, including Minnesotans.
Life Sunday services aim to focus on life being an amazing gift from God given to each human being.
