Jeanette Arlis Sweazey, 79, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.
She was born Feb. 12, 1937, to Alfred and Emma (Thorsness) Paulson in Austin, Minnesota. Jeanette grew up and attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1955. She married Emmett Sweazey on Nov. 18, 1955, in Nashua, Iowa. To this union, three children were born. Jeanette and Emmett were also foster parents to several children. Jeanette worked at Ellis Middle School as a teachers aide for 10 years before providing care to her grandson, Logan. She loved fishing, traveling the United States, boating, watching birds and visiting with friends and relatives. They wintered in Mission, Texas, and spent summers on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack, Minnesota. Emmett passed away on Sept. 8, 2013.
Survivors include a son, Dale (Jennie) Sweazey of Richville, Minnesota; two daughters: Dawn Mohrhauser of Rochester, Minnesota, and Diane (David) Miland of Austin, Minnesota; nine grandchildren: Kelly, Ryan and Trevor Passow, Timothy, Jeffrey, Sara Jo and Taylor Sweazey, Samantha and Logan Miland; 10 great-grandchildren; twin brothers, Gayle (Marlene) Paulson of Austin, Minnesota, and Dayle Paulson of Red Wing, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Emmett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Todd Portinga A.I.M. officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and will continue on Thursday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Memorials in Jeanette’s memory may be directed to her family. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
