MINNEAPOLIS — A delegation from the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee has returned from California with the realization that there’s much to be done before the big game comes to town in a couple years.
Host Committee CEO Maureen Bausch led the delegation of about 50 to the Super Bowl in the San Francisco Bay area. Bausch says one thing she learned is that they’ll need a lot more volunteers — perhaps 8,000 to 10,000 volunteers. She says volunteers are needed for everything from greeting visitors at hotels and the airports to directing traffic in the skyways.
Minneapolis Police Cmdr. Scott Gerlicher said the amount of public safety resources at Super Bowl 50 was unlike anything he’s ever seen before.
The 2018 Super Bowl will be played at the new U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
