Vivian (Clark) Unverzagt, 85, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at her home at The Cedars of Austin.
Vivian Evelyn Gilbertson was born April 21, 1930, in Owatonna, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter and Elfredia (Malakowsky) Gilbertson. A 1948 graduate of Austin High School, Vivian worked at Ankeny’s Mini Marts. On Aug. 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to John F. Clark at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. The couple lived in Stacy, Minnesota. John passed away in 1995. She moved to Lyle, Minnesota, and later to Pickett Place in Austin, where she met Robert Unverzagt. Vivian married Robert in Hidalgo, Texas, on Dec. 19, 1998. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. An avid golf fan, she enjoyed watching the sport on TV but never played. Vivian was a nature lover, and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband Robert Unverzagt of Austin; her daughter Dianne (Charles) Hejlik of West Jordan, Utah; her sons: Steve (Diane) Clark of Littletown, Pennsylvania, and Bruce (Carolyn) Clark of Hugo, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; her sister Lucille “DeeDee” (Gerhard) Wollenberg of Austin, Minnesota; Robert’s family: sons: Robert “Cork” (Ginger) Unverzagt of Dexter, Minnesota, Bruce Unverzagt (Joann Brewster) of Boulder, Colorado, Bill (Karen) Unverzagt of Byron, Minnesota; daughters: Karen (Earl) Schellhorn of Monee, Illinois, Lynette (Bruce) Klaehn of Eyota, Minnesota; Robert’s 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Elfredia Gilbertson; her first husband John F. Clark; her son John Paul Clark; and her brother Walter Gilbertson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Austin with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
