A man busted for methamphetamine was charged with felony first-degree drug possession Tuesday in Mower County court.
Thomas Michael Letendre, 60, of Austin was arrested and charged after police executed a search warrant on March 18 on the 1500 block of Eighth Street Northwest and found 53 grams of meth, according to court records.
Letendre and a woman were seen leaving the home in a 1999 Buick LeSabre.
Officers stopped the vehicle and then obtained keys to the residence and a garage door opener to make a soft entry because an elderly woman was inside. They brought Letendre and the woman back to the house, where Letendre was read his rights and then admitted he had “a couple ounces” of meth in a box on the west wall of the garage.
Officers located the box, which contained 53 grams of meth. Police also seized two meth pipes, a small amount of marijuana, a Samsung camera and another black camera, cut plastic bags and a black “Case Logic” pouch that held meth and heroin, a red ledger, a digital scale, Tramadol pills, two cell phones belonging to Letendre and the woman, and other drug paraphernalia.
Letendre was released pending a complaint, but turned himself in to law enforcement on March 26.
Letendre’s next appearance is scheduled for April 7. There are currently no charges against the woman.
