Fire badly damages NE Austin home; Damage estimated at $135K, but 2 adults, 3 children at home not injured

A northeast Austin home sustained an estimated $135,000 in damages from a Saturday fire.

The Austin Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday after multiple reports of smoke coming out of a two-story home at 803 Third Ave. NE. When crews arrived, flames were seen coming from an upstairs window.

There were two adults and three children living in the home, according to Fire Chief Jim McCoy. All escaped without injuries.

The damage is estimated at $135,000, with water damage on the first floor. The cause of the fire and exact cost of damages is still under investigation, McCoy said.
