David Ruzek reads to students at Woodson Kindergarten Center after school Tuesday. The Noon Kiwanis Club came to Woodson for the third year in a row to read to children in an afterschool program and give each child a free book. The program is funded through the Southern Minnesota Institution Foundation. “The whole idea is to increase literacy and get kids reading,” Ruzek said. Ruzek and Jenny Reid read Tuesday, and Dick Waldman was scheduled to read Thursday. Jenae Hackensmith/jenae.hackensmith@austindailyherald.com
