MINNEAPOLIS — A 50-year-old man has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting a woman at a Minneapolis bus stop in October.

Gerald Cepeda of Minneapolis asked to be immediately sentenced after pleading guilty Tuesday to intentional second-degree murder. He received 25 years in prison for the death of 28-year-old Jessica St. Marie of Wadena.

St. Marie was shot in the head after an argument Oct. 13 at a bus shelter at Lake Street and Park Avenue.

The Hennepin County attorney’s office says Cepeda had walked home after the argument, but then returned about 15 minutes later and shot St. Marie twice as she sat on the bench.

St. Marie’s brother gave a victim impact statement and said her death has been a great loss.

The Star Tribune reports Cepeda apologized in court.
