The Hayfield baseball team came up on the short end of a pitcher’s dual as it lost 2-1 at Kasson-Mantorville (4-0 overall, 4-0 HVL) Monday.
The Vikings (3-3 overall, 1-3 HVL) had the bases loaded with no outs in the fifth and they only scored one run in that frame to make it 1-1. KM took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth. Hayfield had runners on first and second with one out in the sixth, but KM turned a big double play to end the threat.
“Both teams made some great plays and both pitchers threw a ton of strikes,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.
Luke Risius allowed just five hits and one earned run in six innings for Hayfield.
