The Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will have a new central downtown location in the US Bank Building by June 1.

Director Nancy Schnable said the CVB has outgrown its current space at 104 11th Ave. NW and its lease is up for 2016.

The move will also put the organization next to the new Spam Museum downtown, which is opening April 22.

“It’s a perfect time to move, especially with the high numbers of visitors expected to the new Spam Museum,” Schnable said. “A corner office in downtown was the right fit.”

Schnable said the CVB’s numbers are continuing to grow with assisting visitors who come to Austin for conferences, meetings, tournaments and more.

“We let everyone know what’s going on when they come to town,” Schnable said.

Schnable said the bureau’s mission is to provide economic impact by promoting the Austin community. They work with groups to bring in conventions and meetings and also provide information to visitors about lodging, restaurants and attractions.

The move downtown may not be permanent, though. If a visitor’s center is built by the Vision 2020 Gateway to Austin committee, the CVB would most likely move into that space, Schnable said. But for now, they’re happy to have extra room.

“It’s more space than we currently have and we’re looking forward to having it,” Schnable said.
