Gene Allen Conner, 60, of Austin, passed away Monday, April 19, 2016, at his home.

Gene was born Aug. 20, 1955, in LeMars, Iowa, to Junior and Darlene (Sanow) Conner. He grew up in Austin. On May 22, 1975, he married Mary Lobb of Austin. To that union, a daughter was born. He then married Linda Josephson. She passed away in 1999.

Gene worked for Queen of Angels Church, Holsum Foods, Queens, and alongside his wife, Linda, managing the Sinclair Gas Station.

Gene loved to spend time with is brothers and sisters and friends. He enjoyed watching Westerns and knew history very well.

Survivors include his significant other, Kathy Heathman, Austin; daughter, Tara (Matt) Conner, Austin; mother, Darlene Conner, Austin; three grandchildren, Austin and Addison Mattice and Marcus Folie; siblings, Bruce Conner, Austin, Barb (John) Parmenter, Austin; twin brother, Dean (Wendy) Conner, Austin, Betty (Daryl) Griese, Austin, Ricky (Lori) Conner, Bloomington, Deb Enfield (Don), Austin, Penny Conner, Austin, Bonnie (John) Morrison, Humboldt, Iowa; brother-in-law, Brian Dodd, Austin; special cousins, Kevin and Malia Mouser; 24 nieces; 22 nephews; special friends, Ward and Sue Freese.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Conner; father, Junior Conner; sister, Fay Enfield; sisters-in-law, Diane Conner and Gloria Bina; maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Mayer Funeral Home with Lieutenant Dave Amick officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Friday.
