Ill. man seriously injured in crash

An Illinois man was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 63 in Racine around 1:40 p.m. on Monday.
Matthew D. Long, 21, of Waterloo, Illinois, was driving a 2014 Ford eastbound on County Road 1 when he attempted to cross Highway 63. But he was broadsided by a northbound 2001 Freightliner Semi driven by Brian M. Hoveland, 43, of Owatonna, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Long was taken to Saint Marys in Rochester, while Hoveland was not injured.
The Ford was totaled, and the semi sustained severe damage.
Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
