A 26-year-old Austin man has been sentenced for first-degree sales of drugs.
Moises Cayetano Rodriguez, 26, of Austin will serve seven years in prison for felony first-degree sales of drugs-10 grams or more of cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine. He will receive credit for 307 days already served.
He was facing another charge of felony first-degree possession of drugs-25 grams or more of cocaine, heroin or meth, but that charge was dismissed because of a plea agreement.
According to court records, Rodriguez allegedly sold .5 ounces of meth, or about 17 grams, to an informant on June 19, 2015 for about $600. Rodriguez also gave the informant about 5 ounces of meth — about 142 grams — to hold for a bit.
Police secured a search warrant for Rodriguez’s home at the Rodeway Inn in Austin and later arrested him as he left the motel. Officers found the $600 used to buy meth on Rodriguez.
