Next outing heading up to garden center
Published 6:48 pm Sunday, April 24, 2016
Our next outing on Tuesday will take us to Gertens Gardens Center in Inver Grove Heights.
This is one of the largest nurseries in the area, which features indoor and outdoor displays, patio ideas and ground and patio pot plantings.
The sun has come just in time for our visit. The afternoon will be spent close by at the recently opened Premium Outlet Mall in Eagan. This will be a time to have lunch and browse in this large new mall.
We will depart at 8 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m. from the Walmart parking lot.
We have seats available if you would still like to join us. This trip is open to members, guests and the public. Our contact number is 507-438-3946.
•Annual Mystery Trip, May 12: We have had you all guessing as of the date of this year’s trip. Which really may have nothing to do with the destination at all.
We are departing at 8 a.m. from Walmart with return time of about 6 p.m.
Our first clue for our destination is:
If it’s History or charm,
A kakelugnar you’ll see.
A fun day in store, being greeted by a ‘Old Friend’
Do I need to tell youmore?
Sign up for this trip is due by Sunday.
•Amish in Lanesboro, June 9: A local step-on guide will take us through the countryside as we visit Amish homes and learn of their way of life. We will have a chance to buy their homemade goodies, needlework, and fine woodworking items. Bring cash if you intend to purchase, as they do not use credit cards.
We hope to encounter some horse and buggies and hope to enjoy seeing their crop plantings.
Lunch will be included in beautiful Lanesboro, with time to walk and browse. Fee for this trip is due by May 17. Some seats still available.
•“Million Dollar Quartet” at the Old Log Theatre, June 29: Featuring Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash as they came together to make music in 1956 making music history. This was the only time these four legends-to-be played together, and was later to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.
Our lunch will be at the Old Country Buffet in Burnsville. Fees are due by June 1. We will depart at 9 a.m. and return by 6 p.m.
We are thinking spring, and are anxious to enjoy the beautiful Minnesota weather to come.
Newsletters and a calendar of our travel is available at the south entrance of the Mower County Senior Center. 400 Third Ave. NE Austin.
