The tastebuds are in for a treat this Friday as people get to try many wines and beers.
The Zonta Club of Austin will host its annual wine and beer tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Eagles Club of Austin.
“It’s a fundraiser for the club,” Zonta President Cheryl Retterath said. “It is going to have vendors; we will have a gentleman who has wooden bird cages, Scentsy, Thirty-one, [and more].”
The fundraiser will also feature drawings and appetizers, and the beverages will be supplied by Apollo Liquor & Superette. Tickets are $15 and are available in advance or at the door.
Money that is raised will go back to the community through the club’s budget for next year.
“The funds that we raise this year we use to do our budget next year to donate to different non-profits locally,” Retterath said.
The club has donated to organizations such as the Seibel Center and the American Red Cross.
Though Zonta is a club for women, men are welcome to the event. Retterath said organizers hope the addition of beer tasting will draw more people, whether men or women.
“We’re hoping for a good turnout,” she said. “We never know from year to year.”
Past years have seen 80 to 90 people at the event.
