Archie Schultz, 96

Archie Schultz, 96, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
Archie was born April 17, 1920, in Sargeant Township, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Maggie (Gunderson) Schultz. He lived all of his life in the Sargeant/Dexter area and farmed with his father most of those years. Archie also worked for Sargeant Township, grading township roads and plowing snow, and he mowed the cemetery at Zion Lutheran Church where he was a member. Archie enjoyed reading, gardening, cutting wood for cooking and heating, and going for rides to see the crops and look for deer. He especially enjoyed helping his neighbors and spending time with his extended family, including his niece Lois Baumgartner and her husband Emerson, who provided so much help and care these past several years. Four years ago Archie moved off the farm to live in Brownsdale, Minnesota.
Survivors include nieces and nephews Russell Laite of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Sue (Larry) Eckert of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Wanda (Brant) Becker of Austin, Minnesota. Lois (Emerson) Baumgartner of Austin, Minnesota, Marilyn Olson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Janice (Jim) Beach of Freeborn, Minnesota, as well as an additional three generations of dear nieces and nephews. Archie was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Maggie Schultz, his sisters Fern (Floyd) Laite and Alice (Lloyd) Meier; niece Sue Laite, nephew Lyle Olson, and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, 66632 300th St., rural Dexter, with Pastor Brad Novacek officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
