The Riverland Community College baseball team locked up its third straight conference title when it won all four games over the weekend.

The Blue Devils (27-6 overall) swept RCTC by scores of 6-4 and 12-11 on Saturday and they swept Western Tech by scores of 8-0 and 16-4 Sunday. All four contests were on the road.

“It was a huge weekend. The guys played well at times,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “We had really clutch hitting and some guys really stepped up.”

Omar Colon went six-for-12 with three homers and 11 RBIs over the weekend and Alex Roosen picked up a mound win and went 10-for-15 with two homers, five doubles and eight RBIs.

“The sophomores have played extremely well and when you get to this time of year, leadership is big. Hopefully we can play into the Regionals and then it comes down to who’s hot,” Koenigs said. “We want to get back to the World Series. It’s been a few years, but we’ve got a good chance this year. Things are good right now.”

RCC will host a conference play-in series Friday.
