The Riverland Community College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Western Tech by scores of 14-4 and 12-3 in Seltz Field Wednesday.

Zach Schwieters went 7-for-9 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Blue Devils (23-6 overall, 7-1 MCAC) and Brandon Hodson and Xavier Ocasio picked up pitching wins.

“Overall, the pitchers threw strikes for the most part,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Our bats came alive and we did a real good job of sitting back and hitting gap to gap. Our leaders at the top of the order really smacked the ball around.”

RCC is currently tied with RCTC for the MCAC lead and it will play at RCTC and at Western Tech Sunday. The Blue Devils have won five of the last six conference titles.
