Steve King, 49, is having a good time serving on Austin City Council and won’t be slowing down anytime soon, as he has filed to seek his third term in the 2nd Ward.
“It’s rewarding, fun,” King said. “We have a great city staff and it’s a good time representing the second ward.”
King says he came into the council with no platform or issues the first time he was elected, but instead likes to take things as they come.
“I want to listen and be open-minded,” he added. “I am happy to serve.”
He said he is most excited to watch the development of 18th Avenue get underway with the construction of the new Hy-Vee and see the Vision 2020 Community Recreation Center project move forward.
He was born and raised in Austin and moved back in 2005 with his wife Shelley, two sons, Sam and Carter and his mother, Mary.
