Officers spot stolen SUV while taking a report

Austin police didn’t have to look far to find an SUV reported stolen.
While Austin police officers were taking a report on the stolen 2005 red Lincoln Navigator around 10:48 p.m. on Sunday, another officer spotted the car driving and arrested two people, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Officers responded to the report on the 1900 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest. While they talked to the victim, another officer observed the Navigator northbound on Fourth Street Northwest. They caught up to the vehicle and did a felony traffic stop at the intersection of Eighth Avenue and 14th Street Northwest.
Two people were arrested and are being held in Mower County Jail on possible charges of felony criminal vehicular theft and possession of stolen property.
Several items were missing from the vehicle including two longboards worth $475 and $250, a backpack, speaker wire and fuses, and a cell phone.
The items were found in the trunk of another vehicle. The owner of which did not know about the stolen items in the trunk. The items were documented and returned to the owner, except for the cell phone.
