Rebecca Elaine Sauer, 63, of Austin, died Friday, May 20, 2016.
She was born Oct. 18, 1952, in Austin to William and Elaine (Betty) Stephens. She grew up in Austin, where she graduated from Austin High School and received her registered nursing degree from Riverland Community College.
On Feb. 22, 1975, she married John Sauer in Austin.
The couple lived their lives in Austin where Rebecca worked for Burr Oak Manor, Sacred Heart, Good Samaritan and Mayo Health Systems as a RN as she took care of the elderly and cared for the ill for over 30 years.
Rebecca was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
Her life-long passions were her family, cooking, camping, and caring for others.
Survivors include her husband, John Sauer, Austin; daughter, Kelly (Aaron) Osmon, Austin; son, John (Crystal) Sauer, Byron; three grandchildren, Jaxton, Lanie, and Ruby; sisters, Chris Stephens, Austin, and Dagny (Greg) Wobbrock, Washington; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Walsh, Red Wing; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Lutter officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
