Published 1:03 pm Sunday, May 8, 2016
To get the most out of your gardening dollar you cannot beat starting vegetables and flowers from seeds. Plus you can choose exactly the vegetable variety or much-loved flower that you want. Seeds can be started in just about anything, including eggshells and paper milk cartons.
There will be a seed starting and Garden Basics 101 class presented by Mower County Master Gardeners at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11 at the Mower County Senior Center.
All supplies and seeds are provided. You will be able to take a starter kit home with you. They will demonstrate gardening in the senior center garden (weather permitting). To sign up stop by or call the senior center front desk at 1-507-433-2370. Hope to see you there.
Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having tuna noodle hotdish and ham for only $2.
