A Lyle woman’s legacy continues to live on through the fight against cancer.

The family of Tracy Schilling, who passed away Dec. 11, 2014, will host the annual Halfway to January Cancer Bash at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lyle Legion, 112 Grove St. in Lyle.

Tracy formed the cancer bash in 2006 to raise funds for the Lyle Area Cancer Auction. Tracy hosted her final bash in June 2014 as she was fighting cancer last year but was determined to host the bash. It raised a record $12,290.

For the second year, her sons Jordan Schilling, of London, Minnesota, and Alex Schilling, of Des Moines, Iowa, are carrying on the event and helped plan this weekend’s festivities.

Tracy’s mother, Pat Peters, is glad to see the tradition continue.

“I’m proud of the boys,” she said.

Saturday’s festivities will feature a stretch auction, auction, bake sale, and walking tacos and nachos will be served. Event T-shirts will also be served.

“We’re just hoping for a good turnout and thanking everybody that does come and help with the cause,” Peters said.
