Beverly J. Hanners , age 85, of Owatonna, formerly of Austin died Friday, June 17, 2016, at Traditions I in Owatonna.
She was born on May 23, 1931, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of George & Catherine (Daily) Madison. She attended school in Austin graduating from Austin High School, Class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Harvey Hanners on July 26, 1957, at First Baptist Church in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin and later purchased an acreage outside of town and farmed. Along with farming with her husband, Beverly was a devoted mother and also worked at Hormel. Following the death of her husband, Harvey, on June 18, 1997, Beverly continued to live on the farm for one year and in 1998 moved to Owatonna. The last eight years she lived at Traditions I in Owatonna. Beverly was instrumental in establishing and was one of the original founders of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Owatonna. Her faith was very important to her whether serving as a Sunday School teacher in church or attending a Bible study at Traditions. She enjoyed being a farmwife, mother and grandmother, her birthday club, traveling with family (especially her sisters) and friends, playing bingo at Traditions and attending the fair with her Traditions friends and riding her scooter. She will be remembered for always having a beautiful smile.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Stan) Prins of Owatonna, Melody Hanners of Rochester and Yvonne (Mike) Lennon of Owatonna; grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Prins, Katie (Shay) Nold, Jaisden Hanners, Jaaron Hanners; great-grandchildren, Glenn, Harvey, Lary, Kaydence, Sammantha and Lucas; sisters, Bonnie Wiste of Austin, Sandy (Daryl) Klingfus of Austin, Barbara Wollenburg of Austin, Betty (Chet) Daniel of Stewartville; sisters-in-law, Shirley Madison of Austin and Lela Schmidt of Dexter and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, George & Catherine; husband, Harvey; daughter, Brenda Hanners and siblings, Dale Madison, Frank Madison, George Madison, Jr. and Elaine Madison.
Beverly’s family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the present and past staff and residents of Traditions for helping make it “home” for Beverly.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Owatonna with Pastor Brian Wright officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale, Minnesota.
