An Austin man is accused of ramming his head into a police squad car and causing $1,570 in damages.
Kenneth Durane Horne Jr., 25, of Austin pleaded guilty Thursday in Mower County court to felony first-degree criminal damage to property.
At about 7:48 a.m. on May 17, police received a report of an intoxicated man, identified as Horne, on the sixth floor of Building B of Twin Towers.
Officers gave him a ride home, according to court records.
But then around 2:52 p.m., police responded again to the same floor and building. Police believed he was still intoxicated.
They learned Horne was on probation, and his probation agent said to put him in jail on a 72-hour hold. However, he cut his left forearm with a small pen knife and needed stitches before he could be booked into the jail.
As police walked him to the squad car, he ran at the car and rammed his head into an area of the squad car behind the rear door. The damage is estimated at $1,570.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 15.
