Packers will have five athletes at state track and field meet

The Austin track and field team will have a total of five state qualifiers after three more athletes punched their tickets to state a the Section 1AA meet in Lakeville Saturday.
Rachel Quandt, Odongonga Oballa and Sydney Marsh all qualified on Saturday and they will join Madison Overby and Jany Gash, who both qualified Thursday, at the Class AA state meet Friday and Saturday in St. Paul.
Quandt, a senior, broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 and she took second to get to her first ever state meet. Jocie Johnson of Lakeville South edged out Quandt by .03 of a second to take first in the 100-hurdles.
Oballa, a junior, earned her first ever trip to state by taking second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.57.
Marsh, a sophomore, came up with a season’s best height of 10-6 to get to state for the first time in pole vault.
Amber Hansen, a junior, finished fourth in the shot put and she missed the state qualifying distance by eight inches as she threw 40 feet and a half an inch in the finals.
