Carol J. Thompson, 73, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, July 4, 2016, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
Carol was born Feb. 6, 1943, in Austin, Minnesota, to Elwyn and Leaveta (Gobel) Morse. She attended Austin High School and married Melvin Thompson on December 26, 1964 in Hollandale, Minnesota.
Carol loved to garden and cook; she enjoyed making each person’s favorite special food. She was a talented seamstress and liked to make Halloween and other holiday costumes. She collected dolls and she especially loved celebrating the holidays. She cared for anyone that needed her care. For many years, she provided child care for a number of Austin families. Carol spent her last two years at Sacred Heart Care Center where she made many friends and received wonderful care from the staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin in 1999, twin infant sister, Diane, an infant brother and nephew, Shawn Morse.
Carol is survived by her brother, Jerry (Marlene) Morse, Brownsdale, Minnesota; sister, Faye (Don) Pedersen, Austin, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Todd (Gwyn) Morse, Austin, Minnesota, Kim (Mark) Peterson, Lansing, Minnesota, Tammy Jax, Lansing, Minnesota, Candace (Bob) Hample, Austin, Minnesota, Shannin Morse, Rochester, Minnesota and Chadwick (Wendy) Pedersen, Austin, Minnesota; great nieces and nephews; a great great niece and great great nephews; and best friend, Marian Wilke.
There will be a private family memorial service held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Reverend Paul Lutter officiating.
