The Highway 56 detour for culvert replacements near Rose Creek and Adams has been lifted in Mower County, but motorists should note that a detour for bridge replacements in Adams remains in effect, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
A total of seven culverts were replaced near Rose Creek and Adams, requiring the closure and detour. Work was completed on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, two bridges on Highway 56 — one west of Adams over Little Cedar Creek and an unnamed creek in Adams — are being replaced by ICON Constructors of Mabel, Minnesota, the prime contractor in the $1.42 million project.
A detour is in effect during construction. The bridge replacement project is scheduled to be completed in September.
For this project in Adams, the westbound detour on Highway 56 will follow Mower County Road 18 south to Mower County Road 6 west to Mower County Road 7 north where it connects with Mower County Road 5 north back to Highway 56 west of Adams. The eastbound route follows in reverse.
For additional details on the project, go to MnDOT’s project website at www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy56-bridge/index.html. There, people can also sign up for email updates on the project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
