Wallet stolen from man’s hands in yard

A 45-year-old Austin man had his wallet and several hundred dollars stolen right from his hands.
Officers responded to a theft report at the 600 block of 10th Avenue Southwest around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, the victim stated that he was standing in his yard when three to four young males approached him on Monday. They asked him for money to buy cigarettes. The victim thought they were friends of his son so he pulled out his wallet to retrieve cash when one of the suspects grabbed the wallet and ran.
The victim chased after the suspects, but they all got away. Detectives are following up to identify possible suspects.
