A man is charged after he sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 13 last year.

Jose Luis Cosme Valdez, 37, of Arcadia, Wisconsin, was charged with one count of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 13 years of age on Thursday in Mower County court.

Austin police officers received the report on June 3 and said a victim was assaulted by Valdez about one year ago. Another victim was receiving explicit text messages from him, according to court records.

Court records say he touched one of the victims during the night at an Austin residence. After the assault, she told the other victim, who saw Valdez leaving the first victim’s room.

Valdez’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 14.
