300 miles to spread awareness; Nesvold making the big push this weekend

Two years ago, Kelly Nesvold ran 100 miles to raise money to buy 100,000 meals for children overseas, but he wanted to do more.
Now, a triathlon that Nesvold has been training about two years for is just around the corner.
This Friday, Nesvold, his wife, Danielle; and friend Eric Feuchtenberger will start their 300M4FREEDOM journey.
“I feel pretty good, I’ve been training pretty hard,” Nesvold said.
On Friday, the Nesvold’s 300 mile triathlon will start off with a 5-mile swim across Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids. After the swim, a 240-mile bike ride will take place through the metro area, and the triathlon will finish with a 55-mile run to Cornerstone Church in Austin.
The whole purpose of the triathlon is to create awareness and raise funds to stop human trafficking. Nesvold’s fundraising goal is to reach $50,000, and he’s coming close with about $40,000 raised. The three have been working with Mission 21 in Rochester and several other charities to create the awareness of human trafficking statewide.
Gov. Mark Dayton also recently declared Saturday, Aug. 27, as 300M4FREEDOM Day.
“Human trafficking is something that is becoming one of the biggest forms of organized crime,” Nesvold said. “And my wife wanted to make sure that we did something about it, and so I created this kind of crazy endeavor.”
Nesvold is inviting the public to help him, Danielle and Feuchtenberger finish their journey. Community members are invited to run or walk a 5K with Nesvold from Morem’s Tree Service at 3608 Fourth St. NW to Cornerstone Church at 1403 First Ave. SW.
Nesvold encourages every one who can to sign up on the 33M4FREEDOM page and join his last miles for a running/walking 5k. The starting location will take place at Morem’s Tree Service noon on Sunday and end at Cornerstone church.
