Video may have killed the radio star in the 1980s, but a 34-year-old Austin man topped the technology food chain and set his TV ablaze Monday afternoon.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a report of fire and dark black smoke in the 200 block of Fourth Street Southeast around 12:06 p.m.
They found the 34-year-old in his backyard burning a TV. Austin Fire responded and put the burning TV fire out. He was cited for illegally burning.
The suspect admitted to burning the TV but said he didn’t know he wasn’t allowed to.
