Clyde W. Olson, 78

Clyde W. Olson, 78, of LeRoy, Minnesota, died Sunday Aug. 28, 2016, at his home in LeRoy, Minnesota.

Clyde Wayne Olson was born March 23, 1938, at Forest Mills near Zumbrota, Minnesota, to Birdin “Bert” and Violet (Cornehl) Olson. He attended school through the eighth grade and later received his GED.

Clyde entered the United States Navy in December of 1955 and served until November of 1961. Clyde worked as a Boiler Engineer for SB Foot Co. , the State Hospital and retired from OWEF in Rochester. On Feb. 9, 1985, Clyde was united in marriage to Merry Parkin at the Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, Minnesota. He enjoyed working on old cars, listening to country music, working on anything mechanical and doing woodworking. When his daughters were young Clyde served as their Girl Scout Leader.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Merry, of Le Roy; one son, Travis, of Le Roy; four daughters: Judy (Don) Zilm of Claremont, Minnesota, Jean Hagedorn of Federal Way, Washington, Joy (Brent Hayes) Olson of Ceder Rapids, Iowa, and June (Mark) Ewert of Robbins, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother Arnold (Janet) Olson of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, and a sister-in-law Betty Olson of La Verne, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father James Books; a son, Dustin; s grandchild; and his brother, Richard.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at the LeRoy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at the Pine Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the Le Roy Lutheran Church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, and an hour prior to the service also at the church.
