Hwy. 56 bridges open, detours lifted near Adams

Two Highway 56 bridges are back open to traffic near Adams and traffic will resume on the highway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The two bridges in Mower County on Highway 56 — one west of Adams over Little Cedar Creek and an unnamed creek in Adams — were replaced this summer. Traffic was detoured during the project, but the highway detours will be removed once the bridges opened Friday afternoon.
Motorists should remain alert as they drive through the construction zone. Crews remain working around the bridges to complete site work.
ICON Constructors of Mabel, Minnesota, is the prime contractor in the $1.42 million project.
For additional details on the project, go to MnDOT’s project website at www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy56-bridge/index.html.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
