Patricia A. Waletzki, 71, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, in the early morning hours at St. Mark’s Heritage Assisted Living, after losing a seven year battle with cancer.
Patricia Ann Koontz was born Aug. 7, 1941, at Bird Island, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy E. and Marie (Stangl) Koontz. The Koontz family moved to Northfield and later to Austin where Pat graduated from Austin High School. She married Frank Waletzki and they later divorced. For 33 years, Pat was employed by the City of Austin as the “Meter Maid”/Parking Enforcement Officer with the Austin Police Department.
Following her retirement, Pat moved to Pickett Place and more recently has made her home at St. Mark’s Heritage Assisted Living Apartments.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Waletzki, parents, Roy and Marie Koontz, sister, Janet Jensen, brother, Larry Koontz, a great niece and a great nephew.
Patricia is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Sara Waletzki of Bend, OR and Seattle, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Chuck Kirsch, Austin, Minnesota; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald Koontz, Austin, Minnesota, James Koontz, Jerry and Pennie Koontz, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and William Koontz, Winona, Minnesota; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in the Chapel at St. Mark’s Living, 400 15th Ave. SW, with the Reverend Elizabeth Endicott officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service on Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
