BROWNSVILLE — A storm has sent boulders tumbling into a newly remodeled house in southeastern Minnesota.
Tom Bjerke was getting ready for work when the boulders hit his house near Brownsville just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Bjerke tells the La Crosse (Wisconsin) Tribune he “thought the whole side of the house was caving in,” and that his wife was screaming.
A rock the size of a car smashed into the bedroom wall while another boulder went through the home, smashing the front door and taking out a porch pillar. A smaller rock ended up inside the home.
The family had just moved into the house in June, after gutting and remodeling it.
While his homeowners insurance does not cover landslides, Bjerke says he is glad no one was hurt.
