Get ready for a busy weekend as the Austin Bruins are back on home ice, a familiar band returns to the Paramount and an annual Halloween event returns for another spook at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.
1. Davina and the Vagabonds
7:30 p.m. Friday at the Historic Paramount Theatre.
Davina and the Vagabonds return to the Paramount with a high-energy live shows filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill, and tender gospel passages. Doors open at 7 p.m., concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, available from the Austin ArtWorks Center or online at www.austinareaarts.org. 2. Austin Bruins vs Bismarck Bobcats
7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Riverside Arena.
The Austin Bruins are finally back on the Riverside Arena ice for their home opening weekend after a 3-4-1 start to the season. For more information, call 507-434-4978.
3. Comedy Show
6 p.m. Friday at the Austin Holiday Inn.
This dinner and comedy show will feature comedian Craig Allen, along with Patrick Bauer. Tickets are $40 each. Show only tickets are $15 each. Dinner is prime rib. Show only tickets available up until showtime. For information, call 507-433-8000.
4. Halloween Warm-Up
6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.
For two magical nights, the Nature Center with the help of Matchbox Children’s Theatre is under special enchantment. Take a 45-minute hike and enjoy “spook”tacular Halloween and nature skits performed by creatures, critters and spirits of the night, then relax inside Ruby Rupner Auditorium with cider and treats. The even is designed to appeal to children ages 4-11 (accompanied by an adult), but all ages are welcome! For more information, call 507-437-7519.
5. 2016 United Way Mower County Day of Caring
8 a.m. Satuday various locations around Austin.
