The No. 4 seeded Blooming Prairie football team put up a dominant rushing performance as it racked up 415 rushing yards in a 43-6 win over No. 5 Southland in a Section 1A quarterfinal game in BP Tuesday.
Connor Getchell ran for 212 yards and three TDs for BP (7-2 overall) and he also had a TD catch.
The Rebels (3-6 overall) pulled to within 7-6 in the first quarter when Colton Mandt ran for a TD. However, BP took over from that point as the Blossoms posted 21 points in the third quarter.
“The first half was a fun and exciting game, but you always feel bad for the seniors,” Southland head coach Shawn Kennedy said. “We have a lot of returning veteran experience coming back next year and they have to decide how hard they want to work. If they want to work hard, we know we can be competitive.”
BP will play in at No. 1 Rushford-Peterson in a Section 1A semifinal 7 p.m. Saturday. The Trojans beat BP 26-6 Sept. 2.
