Maxine Lynette May “Mickie” Olson, 64, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at her home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Mickie was born April 26, 1952, in Austin to Maxine (Erdman) and Llewellyn Hansen. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in art, and also graduated from fashion school in 1973.
While working in a Jewish nursing home, she met the love of her life, Alfred Olson and they were married on Feb. 14, 1983. Mickie was a member of Living Bible Church. She enjoyed dancing, skydiving, decorating the house for holidays, and collecting all things Johnny Depp.
Mickie loved being a mother, going to school events, and spending time with family. Even while battling MS for years, she managed to keep in good spirits and remained a good wife and mother until the end.
Survivors include her husband, Al Olson; five children, Shawn Olson married to Lola Olson, Aaron Olson married to Bobbi-Jo Helgeson, Jessica Olson married to Dee Salois, Shannon McFarland married to Justin McFarland, and Phillip Olson; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Laney, Lexi, Evan, Lacey, Aiden, Noah, Lily, and Jaimeson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Llewellyn Hansen.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Living Bible Church with Rev. Paul Juntunen officiating. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service at 3:45 pm.
